Union Square Grand Prix Update # 3

Hotel and Evening Meal

We have negotiated with the Jury’s Inn Hotel a special meal rate for Saturday night, should we have sufficient interest and commitment we would like to hold a Grand Prix Ball, this would involve us having exclusive use of the restaurant for drivers, family, mechanics and guests. The current rate for the set menu is £20, we have negotiated a special price of £16 per head for a three course gala dinner, but we can only proceed with this if we have sufficient numbers. By occupying the entire restaurant it opens up the opportunity of a RC themed evening. Perhaps a few RC parlour games and silliness, together with a top rate three course meal.

We need you to indicate to the organisers if this is something you would like as part this great weekend…email either Adrian or Dan, details below This meal deal is in addition to the reduced room rates already agreed with Jurys Inn, most of the reduced rate rooms are now taken but some still remain, if we go over our allocated block booking please ask for the special deal anyway as it may be extended if rooms are still available.

New Sponsors Added.

We are pleased to welcome on board RcDisco and Comet RC as additional sponsors of the event. With regards to shops and businesses in the centre we now have commitment from Cotswold Outdoor store and Cineworld, the cinema complex in the Union Square Centre, the last two companies are sponsoring cars in the public have a go section of the grand prix, or as we like to call it Scotland’s Got Talent.

The section of the meeting where the public are given the opportunity to have a go at RC racing has been funded by our sponsors from the RC industry, MuchMore UK and CML have provided complete cars to allow the public a chance to drive a section of the Grand Prix track, this will be done  under the watchful and enthusiastic eye of Kris Kennedy and a team from the Stonehaven club who will sort the cars, and probably repair them throughout the weekend, these cars will be custom painted and carry logos from retailers in the centre who are contributing to the event in some way.

We have a large number of goodie bags to give away to the viewing public and these are for general distribution during the weekend, these have also been supplied by the event sponsors, we have tried to provide good support to the drivers with concessions but also not loose sight of the PR opportunity to race in such a public place offers, we want everyone, drivers and public to go away having enjoyed the Union Square Grand Prix experience.

Rules Confirmation of the rules for this event will be on the next update which should be posted early next week, don’t expect anything different from general BRCA rules

Pitting

We have now secured the use of three conference rooms in the Jurys Inn hotel for pitting; these three comfortable and well equipped rooms will provide secure pitting and are only a short escalator away from the track down in the Atrium of the centre.

Other Deals

Deals are currently being worked on with other retailers in the centre, we are close to confirming these and they include reduced cost for coffee and meals, some are already committed to helping out with storage and support for the meeting.

Tyres

As some of you may know we were looking at the possibility of control tyres for the touring car class, but it has now been confirmed that the rule will be “any commercially available rubber tyre”, please note this means rubber tyres and therefore no foam tyres allowed. Rules Confirmation of the rules for this event will be on the next update which should be posted early next week, don’t expect anything different from general BRCA rules
